Large Scale Performance Evaluation of MALDI-ToF MS

Large Scale Performance Evaluation of MALDI-ToF MS in a Central Reference Laboratory Setting - At last month's 51st Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy (ICAAC) (September 17-20, Chicago, US) we announced our adoption of Bruker's MALDI Biotyper for bacterial identification, following a successful year-long trial. The trial period of Bruker’s MALDI Biotyper has proved very successful and we are confident that this technology represents the future of bacterial identification.

Identification of Bacteria

MALDI-ToF is a reliable and rapid method for identification of bacteria and is fast becoming the preferred method in clinical laboratories. Since its installation in our laboratory in July 2010 we have analysed and identified over twelve thousand clinical isolates using the MALDI-ToF MicroFlex Biotyper developed by Bruker Daltonik, GmbH.

During ICAAC we presented a poster on "Large Scale Performance Evaluation of MALDI-TOF MS in a Central Reference Laboratory Setting", which is the largest industry study into MALDI-ToF. Download a copy of the poster to see our large-scale validation of the Bruker Biotyper and how it has looks set to revolutionise bacterial identification in a reference lab setting.

Antibiotic Resistance Surveillance

Our expert Bioanalytical Sciences team is a fusion of microbiology, immunochemistry and mass-spectrometry specialists, which means we are perfectly placed to embrace this technology. Delivering rapid and precise identification, Bruker’s MALDI Biotyper technology enables us to identify many thousands of organisms a year for antibiotic resistance surveillance, in a much more efficient and accurate manner than traditional identification methods.
