The 21st European Congress of Clinical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (ECCMID) conference took place in Milan, Italy on the 7-10 May. The scientific programme included stimulating keynote lectures and symposia with involvement from a high number of global experts from all over the world with both clinical and experimental research showcased. The programme provided a unique opportunity for debate, discussion and the exchange of important ideas and information in the fields of clinical microbiology, antimicrobial chemotherapy and infectious diseases.
Supported by Pfizer, Astellas, AstraZeneca and Novartis among others, the conference provided first class networking and educational opportunities for over 8000 attendees to gain knowledge and insights into the entire field of infection-related diseases. The comprehensive programme included a series of lectures, symposia, educational workshops and meet-the-expert sessions, covering the entire field of infection-related diseases. Networking with attendees from a mixture of backgrounds facilitated the identification of new research ideas and innovative ways of organising laboratory and clinical processes.
